Estonia president wants NATO permanent bases in the country
ItarTass: “This is not the signal the potential aggressor should receive from us,” Estonian President Toomas Hendrik says
NATO permanent bases should be created in Estonia, visiting Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves told reporters in the Norwegian capital on Tuesday.
He said at a joint news conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg that the Estonian leadership is concerned over security of its country’s borders.
“NATO structure should not imply the division of its members into the first and second class states: those that have the alliance’s permanent bases, and those that don’t,” Ilves said. “This is not the signal the potential aggressor should receive from us.”
