Norwegian film Almost Man wins K. Vary film festival Grand Prix

CeskeNoviny: Karlovy Vary - The Almost Man, a film by Norwegian film director Martin Lund, won the 47th international film festival in Karlovy Vary, having defeated another eleven feature films today.

The film thus won the Crystal Globe and 25,000 dollars.
A Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema was given to U.S. Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon. At the beginning of the festival, the same award was given to British Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren.
The victorious film is a bitter psychological study with authentic features and excellent performance by the cast. The Best Actor Award was given to its actor Henrik Rafaelsen along with Polish Eryk Lubos from the Polish film To Kill a Beaver.
The jury, headed by Richard Pena, head of the New York Festival and programme director of the New York Film Society of Lincoln Center, gave the Special Award to Piazza Fontana. The Italian Conspiracy by Marco Tullio Giordana.
The Best Director Award was won by Canadian Rafael Ouellet for his film Camion.
The Best Actress Award was given to Leila Hatami for her role in the Iranian film Last Step.
Special jury mentions went to Pavel Liska, Tomas Matonoha, Marek Daniel and Josef Polasek, Czech representatives in Polski film by director Marek Najbrt,
They were also awarded to Yannis Papadopoulos who played the lead role in the Greek film Boy Eating the Bird's Food by as Ektoras Lygizos.
The jury of the East of the West section awarded the Ukrainian film House with a Turret by Eva Neymann.
Another special mention was awarded to the film Vanishing Waves by na Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper.
Grand Prix for Best Documentary Film for film over 30 minutes went to Sofia’s Last Ambulance by Bulgarian Ilian Metev and Grand Prix for Best Documentary Film for film under 30 minutes to Sergio Oksman's A Story for the Modlins.
Czech documentary film maker Helena Trestikova received a special mention for her Private Universe.
The Audience Award was given to Geoffrey Enthoven's Belgian film Come As You Are.
